An Update to the Pennsylvania Genealogy Success Guide

Hello Reader!

Welcome to a new look for PA Ancestors Discoveries! My goal is to have this weekly newsletter be your #1 source for Pennsylvania genealogy research.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey! I learned a lot about where you are stuck in your research and to help everyone, I updated my Pennsylvania Genealogy Success Guide. I'm resending it to all of you now for this week's newsletter.

I also learned from the survey that many of you are saving these emails to refer back to and so I changed to a simple to scan format. The font is also darker and larger to make it easier to read.

A warm welcome to everyone joining the newsletter from the Allen County Public Library webinar yesterday! It was a pleasure to be with you and talk about our vital records.

Hope you enjoy this new style and I'll be back next Wednesday with our regularly scheduled weekly emails.

āš”ļø Top 10 struggles you have

Those who responded to the survey (Thank you again for your responses!) shared where they are struggling with their genealogy research. I've themed the struggles into 10 categories:

  • Overwhelm
  • Fuzzy focus
  • Lack of notes
  • Disorganization
  • Struggling alone
  • Ignoring sources
  • Fruitless searches
  • Little known records
  • No historical knowledge
  • Not using existing research

A lot of genealogists are in Struggle Valley with multiple struggles. It is not your fault! There was no comprehensive resource on how to do Pennsylvania genealogy research. (Until now šŸ˜‰)

I want to get you out of the valley and up where you can see the path ahead of you.

These are all problems I've had personally over the years and I know what it is like trying to do research from this place.

The newsletter will focus on giving you tools and resources to remove these struggles and complete your Pennsylvania (and really any location!) genealogy research.

šŸ‘ž Kick start your genealogy research

Based on your survey responses, I updated the Pennsylvania Genealogy Research Success guide.

This 30 page guide will get your research out of Struggle Valley and back on track. (If you want to really move your research along and get it done, your best option is the Discover Your Ancestors Workshop in April.)

Click the file below to download your copy of the guide:

šŸ“Ø Want to get the Guide one chapter at a time?

If you would like to get a breakdown of each chapter of the guide over the next 8 days, click the button below. I'll email you one chapter each day so you can read it a little at a time. (These may take another day or two to arrive due to issues with my email provider, but they will arrive!)

That's it for this week's newsletter. If you found something useful, please share it on social media and say you got it from PA Ancestors. There's a lot of genealogists struggling who don't need to be.

Keep discovering your ancestors,

Denyse Allen
