April 2024 PA Happenings

Hello Reader!

Welcome to PA Ancestors Discoveries - where every week we help people get unstuck from 1 of the 10 ways people struggle in their Pennsylvania genealogy research:

  • Overwhelm
  • Fuzzy focus
  • Lack of notes
  • Disorganization
  • Struggling alone
  • Ignoring sources
  • Fruitless searches
  • Little known records
  • No historical knowledge
  • Not using existing research

(And if you want to blast through your research and get it completed, we'd love to have you join the next Discover Your Ancestors Workshop.)

This week we are talking about events happening in Pennsylvania, both in-person and virtual, that can help you in your genealogy research.

Just 9 spots open in my live Workshop

I'd recommend the Discover your Ancestors Workshop the way it is. It was EXCELLENT!
-Beth Anne, Genealogist researching in York County

My Discover Your Ancestors Workshop is going fully virtual this summer, so if you would like to work with me live over Zoom on your genealogy research, now is your chance.

You get digital copies of my books, plus research guides, templates, and frameworks to break down your Pennsylvania brick walls and complete your research. Plus an awesome community of fellow genealogists!

Includes one year access to all the PA Ancestors Members content and workshop content.

The Workshop runs Tuesday April 23rd - May 14th, with Live sessions April 23rd, 25th, 30th and May 2nd, 7th, 14th at 6:30pm Eastern

You can save $100 off the enrollment with code PANOW100

Finding Your Roots Genealogy Fair Saturday April 6th

Join me and many genealogy organizations this Saturday at the Whitaker Centre in Harrisburg. Ask your research questions and get to enjoy time with fellow genealogists. Registration requested at https://www.witf.org/2024/02/16/finding-your-roots-a-genealogy-fair/

As of today they are expecting over 400 people. Hope to see you there!

Join WPGS for their 50th Anniversary Conference

I love the resources and events Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society provides for their members. If you have ancestors in the western half of the state like me, put this conference on your "must do" list. It's June 20th & 21st, in-person and virtual.

Check out the full list of sessions and speakers https://wpgs.org/50th-anniversary-conference/

Early bird registration ends April 30th.

I will be there with a booth to answer your questions and meet you. Can't wait!

Chester County launches digital records collections

The Chester County government presented their new portal to county records, providing free access to millions of records. Check out the 30 minute presentation and learn how to search, view, and download records of your ancestors from this county.

Bravo Chester County! Here's hoping PA's other 66 counties are inspired to do the same with their records in the next few years.

That's it for this week's newsletter. If you found something useful, please share it with your genealogy friends and in any Facebook groups you are in and say you got it from PA Ancestors.

Keep discovering your ancestors,

Denyse Allen

Founder, PA Ancestors
